Bright sun and long days are upon us! Along with vast local availability of vaccines for COVID-19, these days bring the promise of a more normal summer. In April, we at MPFC will be transitioning from the two-dose Moderna vaccine to the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine. As before, to avoid waste COVID-19 vaccines will be given by appointment only. We strongly encourage our patients and community to participate in COVID-19 vaccination either with us or at one of the many local sites offering the shot. Visit covidvax.alaska.gov for more information and vaccine options!
With the recent expiration of the State of Emergency in Alaska for the coronavirus pandemic, please be aware that insurance coverage for COVID-19 related care will likely change. Under the State of Emergency, most deductibles and copays were waived for COVID-related care and telehealth visits were covered at the same rates as in-office visits. We expect that some plans will be removing these accommodations for medical care during the pandemic now that the the State of Emergency in Alaska is no longer in place. We encourage you to know your plan's policies so you are not faced with unexpected out-of-pocket expenses. We, too, will do our best to remain abreast of changes in coverage, but are sometimes unaware of changes specific to patient insurance plans until care has already been provided.
With increased coronavirus test supply availability, we are now able to offer COVID testing required for travel for established patients of MPFC. Please call to schedule a drive-up test for the day you require testing. Note that we are not able to determine for you whether out test meets the requirements of your destination. We offer both molecular and PCR COVID testing with same-day results.
